Year 4 pupils from Hindlip and Tibberton CE first schools joined the residents at Fernhill House this week to celebrate World Book Day together.
The school children, who make regular visits to the home, came in dressed as characters from their favourite books, which created a lot of fun & conversation with the residents of the luxury care home. The residents of Fernhill House were also delivered a treat as the children brought their favourite books to read excerpts to the residents.
The choice of books were so varied from Matilda to Harry Potter & a few places in between. There was such a mix of stories being shared & the resident’s spent some time reminiscing about books they would read when they were young. One of the residents exclaimed“It was so nice to have the children in to read for us. They were so well behaved & kept us entertained. The books that they are reading are so different to when I was a child”.
This visit is the latest in a number of intergenerational visits that have been set up, with the groups making visits to see each other, both in the home & at school.

Here at Fernhill House we are always looking at different ways that we can involve the residents with the local community & Intergenerational activities are so important for the residents, the children & their wellbeing.”
